Countryside hotel in Tinos! Welcome!
My feelings, not unlike those of a "passionate lover", not unlike those of a "possessive mistress", over the energy and the experiences that echo like concealed secrets within old buildings, led me to the decision to try and breathe new life into them, respecting all the while their accrued worth that the passage of time had endowed them with. The project’s result surpassed even the loftiest of my expectations: a unique countryside hotel on Tinos Island.
It proved an one-of-a-kind experience, an experience that was faithfully recorded step by step and photograph by photograph. Gradually, one stone at a time, my craftsmen revealed their inherent knowledge in managing the buildings’ structural elements. Above all, they stubbornly focused on ensuring that the neighboring buildings, inseparably linked to each other, retained their precious and fragile integrity. At last, a hotel, offering traditional accommodation, was standing proud witness to past glories. Welcome to our Crossroads Inn on Tinos Island!
During the restoration works another world revealed itself to us: it was a world of old marble lintels in relief that were integrated into the buildings’ stone walls. We welcomed them and embraced them, lovingly restoring them. Today, they grace the hotel you’ll be staying in and I can never resist an opportunity to talk about them to you, our guests.
The antique pieces of furniture, we found lying about, were repaired and given their rightful place in the new, refurbished spaces of the hotel, helping us to maintain the ambiance of the traditional Cycladic homestead accommodation. Making modern-time additions to your living and sleeping quarters was as unavoidable as it was necessary. Yet, such additions were in the capable hands of the seasoned local craftsmen, who passionately and patiently made all of them by hand, blending them into the aesthetics the older spaces breathed.
The Crossroads Inn is the result of my own personal vision. It would not have come to fruition were it not for my family, my loyal friends, and the residents of Tripotamos, the scenic village on Tinos where our hotel is located. They all stood steadfastly by me, each adding yet another "stone" to my effort.
It is my most fervent wish to share with you the result of this collective effort. You are all invited to live the life local at the traditional accommodations of our Crossroads Inn and savor the traditional, leisurely pace of the villagers at the Cycladic village of Tripotamos, Tinos Island. I can’t wait to welcome you in our hotel: you’ll feel the breeze caressing you; you’ll bathe in the playful conspiracy of light and shadow; you’ll become part of the talks and strolls of the village’s people in their gardens, the tiered alleys, and the vaulted alleyways; you’ll hear our church’s bells toll, you’ll sample our authentic local fare. I can’t wait for you to drink it all in. Nothing would give me more pleasure than pampering you and lavishing on you the care and attention we traditionally offer our guests and that you so richly deserve.
